About Catwalk Beauty Clinic

I’d been considering a Brazilian blow-dry treatment for a while, but had been hesitant mainly due to the expensive prices most salons are charging. So when I saw a deal from Catwalk Hair & Beauty on Gumtree (£99 for long hair, plus a free, full-sized bottle of special shampoo) I decided that it was time to go for it.This is a busy little local salon, and friendly stylists Susan and Reena made me feel welcome. The treatment itself took a long time (a bit over 4hrs) but I had been warned about this – not only does the product have to soak in for a while, but then the stylist has to go over small sections of hair with a hot iron to ‘seal’ in the keratin. This is a meticulous process that takes a bit longer than getting a full head of highlights, and Susan did a great job with me – taking her time to make sure each piece was perfect as it’s the most important step in the treatment.Catwalk use the Nanokeratin System (http://www.nanokeratinsystem.co.uk/) which seems to be one of the better ones if you do some research online. I have thick, blonde hair that’s past my shoulder-blades, and usually dries naturally into soft curls and waves (that I don’t mind) but with a lot of frizz (which I do!). Immediately after the treatment I couldn’t believe how silky and smooth it was (and how much longer, without the kinks!), remarking that it was like my hair used to be when I was a little girl. Three days later, I’ve washed my hair with the salt-free shampoo and let it air-dry as usual, and I can’t believe how shiny it it. It’s very straight still (a bit more than I was expecting) but it looks really healthy and I can see that it will be really easy to style. The only cons I can see are that the treatment gives off some fumes (I wasn’t the only one in the salon having it done, and the collective fumes made my eyes sting once the heat part started). And having to leave it three to four days before washing it out is a bit of a trial – you can’t use ANY products or tie/pin it back, so by day 3 mine was pretty flat and lank so I gave in and washed it (plus I was impatient to see the results after the wash!). I would completely recommend you try this treatment if you’re sick of your frizz and want to go straight. Don’t hesitate to give Catwalk a call if you do!
